Sustainable, High Performance VNA Test Port Extension Cables

Velocity Microwave has a patent-pending, e-waste friendly design for VNA port extension cables. The new VM Vector series cables are modular and repairable! – a feature that has secured them finalist status in the 2018 and 2019 Golden Mousetrap Awards category of Test and Measurement. This simple concept will save you thousands of dollars over the life of the cable. No longer will you need to replace cables that are damaged or worn out. Each component in a Vector cable can be repaired, so no matter what happens to the assembly, there exists a straightforward remedy. All repairs to Vector-class cables are provided for a flat rate of $450 in 2019 dollars. The extremely flexible Vector cables are available in standard 26" and 39" lengths. Any configuration of connectors, Type N through 1.85mm, male or female, NMD-style or standard connectors can be specified.


The underlying concept is that the user invests in a repairable host platform, a platform that by its very nature as a mechanical medium has uneven wear properties associated with connectors and internal transmission lines that age at different rates under varying handheld use conditions. Velocity Microwave takes advantage of this uneven wear condition by designing a test assembly with an inherently modular build that simplifies sub-component replacement. This in turn reduces the overall e-waste footprint, as well as reducing carrying cost by extending service life.

 

What about Performance?  Vector cables are designed for best-in-class performance. Their robust construction provides 1,000 lbs of compression resistance, yet remain very flexible with a dynamic bend radius of 2.5". The foundation of the Vector cable is a high-performance transmission line with a Vp of 83% - providing extremely stable phase and amplitude parameters with flexure and temperature changes. Further, all transmission lines are pre-flexed to reduce internal stresses and enhance phase and amplitude stability. Velocity cables are also temperature cycled between 5C and 65C to enhance thermal stability.

 

 

 

What about Value?
